It is the fluid-filled sacs, it is in the pockets of the ovary or on the surface of the ovary its called an ovarian cyst. Women have two ovaries; these are in small sizes like an almond. the egg is developed and matures in the ovary. 

     The common types of ovaries cyst are two. 

   1. Functional cyst 

   2. Pathological cyst 

Functional ovarian cyst  

       A functional ovarian cyst is the most common and harmless cyst.  It is developing for a short time and disappears without any harm. The other name for functional ovarian cyst is follicle cyst. 

  The ovaries release an egg every month. The egg grows in a tiny sac called a follicle. When the egg is matured the follicle breaks and releases the egg, If the follicle does not break and not release an egg then this follicle is converted into the follicle cyst.  This cyst disappears after 3 to 4 months. 

Pathological ovarian cyst 

       A pathological ovarian cyst is not a common type of cyst. The reason for this is the unnatural growth of the cells or abnormal growth of the cyst. 

         When the follicle releases the egg then the follicle is shrunk automatically but if this does not shrink and grow some abnormal cells it is a pathological cyst. 

Other types of cysts are less common; 

Endometriomas  

     It happens when the lining of the uterus grows outsides of the uterus. 

Dermoid 

 Dermoid come from the cells present during birth and do not usually have symptoms. 

cystadenomas 

This is full of watery fluid and sometimes grows in large size.
